Participants Manual
Updated and released in January 2017, the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Manual is used by participants in the new 2017 Lifeguarding Program. This newly revised program trains lifeguards to act with speed and confidence in emergency situations – both in and out of the water. Topics include water rescue skills, surveillance and recognition, first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies, CPR, AED and more. The new program reflects the latest Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) science and contains new, quicker, and more efficient extrication techniques for removing passive victims from the water. The lifeguarding manual includes end-of-chapter review questions to help participants retain course information and prepare for the final exam.
